It is the structured movement of work across people, rules, systems, approvals and exceptions. The useful test is whether a request has an owner, a next action, a checkpoint and a visible status — not whether a new tool was installed.

Is workflow automation the same as AI automation?

Accepted Answer

No. Workflow automation is about how work moves. AI automation is about how work is interpreted. Some workflows never need AI. Some AI solutions still need a workflow underneath them so the output has an owner and a checkpoint.

When should a workflow not be automated?

Accepted Answer

When the path is still unclear, when exceptions are the majority of the work, when the rule cannot be stated, or when the step creates authority that must stay with a named person. In those cases SR8 will say so.

What does SR8 need before recommending workflow automation?

A real piece of work, the points where it waits, the people who touch it, and the decisions that must remain human. If that cannot be described yet, the starting point is Business Discovery rather than a workflow build.
